Medical Weight Loss with GLP-1 Medications
This is how a prescriber-managed semaglutide and tirzepatide program would look at TruSpine: baseline labs as needed, a written plan and monthly follow-up, alongside the chiropractic, acupuncture and recovery care already in the building.
- Semaglutide & Tirzepatide
- Prescriber-Managed Dosing
- Labs Before First Dose
- Monthly Follow-Up Visits

Your Program
Four Paths, One Medical Team
In the program shown here, every path starts with the same consultation and the same labs. From there the prescribing provider recommends the path that fits your health, your history, and how much support you want.
Semaglutide
A once-weekly GLP-1 injection, the same active ingredient found in Wegovy®. The most established option and the usual starting point.
Treatments
A weekly self-injection with a gradual dose increase over the first 16 weeks. Your prescriber adjusts the schedule around how you feel.
Causes
Adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes, or sleep apnea.
Tirzepatide
A once-weekly dual GIP and GLP-1 injection, the active ingredient in Zepbound®. Often chosen when more loss is the goal or when appetite control on semaglutide plateaus.
Treatments
A weekly self-injection stepped up in stages. In clinical trials, average weight loss was higher than with semaglutide at comparable time points.
Causes
Patients who meet the same medical criteria and want the option with the strongest trial results, or who did not reach their goal on semaglutide.
Metabolic Reset
A medication-free track built on labs, nutrition, protein targets, and strength guidance. For patients who are not candidates for GLP-1s or prefer to start without them.
Treatments
Comprehensive labs, a written nutrition plan, and regular check-ins with your care team.
Causes
Patients with a lower BMI, a history that rules out GLP-1s, or who want a structured medical plan without medication.
Maintenance & Taper
What happens after the weight comes off matters as much as how it came off. A planned taper and a maintenance protocol so results hold.
Treatments
Gradual dose reduction, regular progress tracking, and a maintenance plan built around protein, resistance training, and sleep.
Causes
Patients who have reached their goal on a GLP-1 and want to reduce or stop medication without regaining weight.

The Experience
A Program Built
Around the Practice
TruSpine is a purpose-driven holistic clinic in San Francisco’s North Beach and Telegraph Hill. We show you how a medically supervised weight-loss program would sit inside your tailored care plan: the medication owned by a prescribing provider, the movement, soft-tissue and recovery work already in the building.
Who Would Prescribe
GLP-1 medication is prescription-only, and a chiropractor or acupuncturist does not prescribe it. TruSpine’s is partnered with Dr. Crystal Broussard, M.D., board certified in internal medicine and, a prescribing provider through the Asher Med Provider network specializing in functional medicine, anti-aging and weight management.
Labs Before Any Prescription
A metabolic panel, A1c, thyroid and lipid labs may be indicated to get a baseline before a first dose. The prescribing provider will recommend this on an as-needed basis.
It Would Not Sit on Its Own
Truspine offers Red Light Therapy and T-Shape body contouring alongside or after your weight loss journey. These services will be complementing medical weight loss programs, including those using semaglutide or tirzepatide. You may be evaluated for soft-tissue and movement work alongside it.
Two Clinic Locations
TruSpine sees patients at 50 Francisco St # 257 in North Beach and 150 Lombard St Suite 2 on Telegraph Hill. Main line (415) 421-1115.

Your Program
Four Paths, One Medical Team
A clear process with no surprises. Every step is handled by the same care team.
Your Program
A Medical Consultation
In the office, or by video where offered. The prescribing provider reviews your history, your weight story and what you have tried, then confirms whether a GLP-1 medication is right for you or recommends another path.
- Unhurried, private appointment
- Comprehensive consult + review
- No pressure to start medication
Step 02 · Labs & Plan
Labs, Baseline, and a Written Plan
Blood work establishes your baseline. The prescribing provider chooses the medication, the starting dose and the titration schedule, and you get it in writing.
- Metabolic panel, A1c, thyroid, lipids
- Baseline weight and measurements
- A written plan before you start
Step 03 · First Dose
Your First Injection, Supervised
A clinician walks you through the pen, the injection sites, and what to expect in the first days. Most patients say the injection itself is far easier than they imagined.
- Hands-on injection teaching
- Side-effect plan in hand
- Questions answered before you leave
Step 04 · Ongoing Care
Monthly Check-Ins and Dose Adjustments
Your care team reviews your progress every month, adjusts your dose, and manages side effects, so the medication stays one part of a plan that is working.
- Monthly provider visits
- Dose changes as you need them
- A taper planned before you finish

Does TruSpine offer a GLP-1 program today?
No. Their published services are chiropractic, acupuncture, sports medicine and therapies such as T-Shape 2 body contouring and red light therapy. This page is a concept built by Health Hue Digital to show what a medical weight-loss page for the practice would look like.
How do GLP-1 medications cause weight loss?
Semaglutide and tirzepatide mimic gut hormones that slow stomach emptying and signal fullness to the brain. Appetite drops, portions shrink, and cravings quiet down. Tirzepatide also activates a second hormone pathway, GIP, which is why its trial results were stronger.
Semaglutide or tirzepatide, which is right for me?
Semaglutide is the more established option and the usual starting point. Tirzepatide produced greater average weight loss in clinical trials and is often chosen for patients with more to lose or who plateau on semaglutide. The prescribing provider recommends one after reviewing your labs and history.
Am I a candidate?
Most adults with a BMI of 30 or higher qualify, as do those with a BMI of 27 or higher and a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes, high cholesterol, or sleep apnea. A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, MEN2, or pancreatitis rules GLP-1s out, and pregnancy or planned pregnancy does as well.
What are the side effects?
Nausea, constipation, and fatigue are the most common, usually during dose increases, and usually manageable with slower titration and simple diet changes. Serious side effects are rare but real, which is why labs come first and follow-up is monthly.
Would the medication be brand-name or compounded?
In a program like this, brand-name medication is prescribed when insurance covers it, and where compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide is offered it comes from a licensed U.S. pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and what that means would be explained before you decide.
How much does it cost, and does insurance help?
This page is a concept, so no prices are shown; none would be TruSpine’s to quote yet. In a program like this, pricing depends on the medication and the length of the program, and is quoted in full at the consultation before anything is prescribed.
How long will I be on medication?
Most patients stay on a GLP-1 for 12 to 18 months, then taper. Some choose a low maintenance dose longer term. Your prescriber plans the taper with you so the weight stays off after the medication stops.
What happens when I stop?
Appetite returns, so the plan matters. Patients who follow a structured taper with protein targets and resistance training keep far more of their loss than those who stop cold. The maintenance track exists for exactly this stage.
Not ready to book, but have questions?
No pressure. If you are still deciding whether a GLP-1 program is right for you, send your questions and the team will follow up with honest, straightforward answers. This page is a concept prepared by Health Hue Digital: TruSpine does not currently advertise a GLP-1 weight-loss program, so no price, package or claim shown here is theirs.
